Bryan made the long trek back to Brainerd, MN for the joint round with CRA and CCS, for his first race weekend back on the bike this season. Tyne’ couldn’t make the trip, however her bike came along for some shakedown time during practice and to serve as a backup bike.
Practice Thursday went well, with one morning session spent shaking down the changes we made to Tyne’s bike during the off-season and the rest of the day checking out changes to Bryan’s bike and trying to knock the cobwebs off his riding. The new Magura front brake master cylinders turned out to be an outstanding upgrade, adding tons of stopping power and feel over the R6 master cylinders we’d been using previously.
Saturday’s weather was fantastic through the race day, and while pace wasn’t where he wanted, Bryan had some fun battles with a couple of CRA locals throughout the day. Finished 7th in Lightweight Supersport, and while seeing better pace in Lightweight Superbike, finished 12th after having to run off track to avoid a crashing rider at the green flag.
We seem to lose a canopy every time we go to Brainerd, and this trip was no exception. Heavy rainfall overnight Saturday was too much for our canopy to keep up with, though it was able to limp through the rest of the weekend.
Sunday proved to be another weather guessing game, with damp conditions early in the morning eventually clearing for a dry track by the time the Lightweight Supersport race started. After a race-long scrap, Bryan brought this one home in 8th. Heavy storms rolled in mid-day, stopping race action and causing plenty of standing water in some areas of the paddock. With more severe weather on its way, Bryan packed it in early and headed south.
All in all, a great weekend back with our friends at CRA. Check out some video highlights!
Huge thanks as ever to all who support our racing efforts — this would be absolutely impossible without you!
